This dress was one of the first I designed and patterned entirely on my own. The fabric is a sheer linen curtain from the thrift store with a very loose weave. The frailness of the material will allow it to distress over time, giving the garment a whimsical, spiderweb feel- which is what I imagine fairies make their clothes from. I love the evolution of a single piece of clothing and believe signs of wear are signs of love.

Process

Hand patterning the bodice.

Creating channels for the shoulder strap.

Testing the back design.

The skirt is made from two circles which gives the hem its unique shape.

The shoulder straps run through a channel at the top of the back which prevents it from gaping despite having a low cut.
